Does anybody know of a shop where I can try out buggy boards?

I have a Bugaboo Bee + I can't decide between the Bugaboo board and the Lascal. I recently saw somebody with a Bugaboo board + a Twoo seat, which looked great but I'm quite short and I don't know if I'd have enough room to walk behing the buggy.

My son will be 2 years + 4 months when the new baby arrives + I'm planning to do a combination of buggy/sling + buggy/buggy board.

I also have a Maclaren Triumph, but I don't use this very much. Having said that I'm guessing it would be good to have the option to use the buggy board on both, so perhaps the Lascal would be better?

I've spoken to Tommy's on Rye Lane + they don't have any to test. Kiddicare is usually very good for these things but they don't sell Bugaboo products.

If anybody can recommend somewhere or give me your personal recommendations I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks x

I had both a bee with a bugaboo board (not the seated one) and a maclaren quest with a lascal mini. Neither was ideal, it's not that easy to walk - the bugaboo board makes you walk like a cowboy and the lascal isn't great either - I found it hard to walk any distance with either and was glad of my double buggy (with a 22m age gap)...

But people do get on with them fine so maybe I just have a low tolerance threshold....!

I had a bee+ and I had my lascal maxi on it.

You will def kick the board sometimes but you adjust your stride, if that makes sense. The maxi is a bit higher than other boards so your feet can stride under it a bit.

Having said that, the new seated bugaboo board looks really good, and I know my toddler (at nearly 3) would like to be able to sit down! He sits on the lascal sometimes but it's not ideal.

I see people walking to the side of their bugaboo boards but then it is possible to steer the bee one handed even with toddler on board.

    • Great shout. They do need the extra fat when it’s winter, but don’t use fat balls from April as they are dangerous for nestlings as the babies can choke on lumps of the fat. When it gets milder switch to suet pellets as they are harder and don’t melt (the grease is bad for feathers.
    • Rather alarmist. There is unlikely to be snow this week, but even if there is that is natural and wildlife adjust accordingly. There are fewer insects to eat due to what humans have done to the planet over the decades.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_in_insect_populations  In particular: Habitat Loss and Fragmentation: Agricultural Chemicals: Climate Change: Pollution: Invasive Species: There is even a case for not feeding birds due to the spread of disease through feeders, greenfinch population was decimated.   https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/24/should-we-stop-feeding-birds-what-happens-if-we-do-and-does-it-spread-disease   I do feed the birds but keeping a watching eye on the evidence.   And I try to grow insect and bird friendly plants including attempts at a meadow.   There could also be an argument for not keeping cats as these may decimate bird populations.   https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/aug/14/cats-kill-birds-wildlife-keep-indoors   You will need squirrel proof feeders and even then you may have the starlings and green squwaky things eating most of the food left out for small birds.
    • Apparently this year due to the weather there are fewer insects for the birds to eat. So please if you don’t usually buy fat balls & seeds to put out (in safe places to avoid the cats ) a plentiful supply . They really need it this year, especially with snow forecast later this week.    Thankyou
