Using in-class exercises, and take-home assignments this course focuses

on the nuts and bolts of creating narrative fiction, such as point of view, characterisation, structure, theme and creating scenes through dialogue.

You will look at ways to build writing into your lifestyle, and the process of editing and rewriting. You will also have fun with words, and create a deconstruction/collage piece. There is an opportunity to workshop, enabling you to feel comfortable sharing your work, as well as benefiting from valuable feedback.

You will work towards a final piece of 1-2,000 words, to read at the final class during a night of readings. Students who wish to continue with their creative writing in a supportive environment, may choose to graduate to the Literary Kitchen Writers Workout.

?Literary Kitchen?s Creative Writing for Beginners course has you writing from week one and is an invaluable resource for anybody starting out in creative writing or brushing up on old skills.??

    • Good luck with this - it is getting harder than ever to do an infant observation, I did mine at a local nursery as I needed to observe a child from 9 months - 3years. Mine was weekly for 3 months, It is surprising what you can observe during that one hour. I continued to use my observational skills throughout my 21 year professional career, After I retired, I returned to University and trained as a Practice Educator and went on to have 5 students and encouraged them not just to listen but to observe their 'clients 'body languages/ environment/ relationships with others. I would urge parents/caregivers to participate - you will be surprised how much more you will understand about your child and their development,
    • Regardless of who 'owns' the bin- the organisation regularly comes to empty it and clear up the area. They were there today (Weds)
    • I was just giving advice as to what to do with a 9 year old during school holidays as per Pugwash’s original post. I like to keep it simple Sue.
    • @Gingergossip In deed a bit of a joker, totally tongue in cheek, got me and others, well done (check their profile out).   But unfortunately there is a bit of Alf Garnett here, where Warren Mitchell in As Death as Do Part, would say the most outrageous and offensive things.  Effectively mocking and calling out some nasty right wing beliefs.  But sadly some with those beliefs thought he was being serious, As we can see on this thread.
