Sorry! NOT technically minded at all!

My lights blew last night and I turned the Power off and took the little box out to get the new fuse wire added to it.

At the moment the Power is on(obviously I'm typing this..lol) but my Central Heating is cold, whereas it DID work before.

PLEASE tell me its because the "electrics"/"lights" box still hasn't been put back in!

(Antiquated system I know!)....

Thanks In Advance,Tony.

Tony

Check all of the fuses in the box, you may have blown more then one.

Also, the heating (if gas) relies on a constant flame to keep the thermocoupling hot, if the flame goes out the thermocoupling cools and trips a circuit to cut the gas to the flame (A safety feature to stop gas being pumped out without a pilot light)

Check if the pilot light is on, if not follow the instructions on your central heating to relight it then see if the heating comes back on

Also check the timer on your heating, it may well have reset to factory defaults when you switched the power off and not what you have set it to.

If it is on, your fuses are fine and you have gas into the building (if you have a gas cooker does it still work) then I would recommend calling your heating engineer to come over. (but that could take a very very long time)

Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll read what you have written carefully thru'!

Just to say my Gas Cooker and Gas Fire in the Living Room still work fine.

To update I turned the switch on again and just get a "whirring" sound and also my "Pressure Gage" goes up from "1" to "3" when it working and then retreats back afterwards(I know it should stay at "1" but, hey! it works normally) but this time it did not move!

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
