Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're off to a funeral, my condolences for your loss.

I bought my wedding sari in Leicester but had to have my blouse made down here and went to the row of sari shops on the main road in Thornton Heath to get the work done. They were great and much more like Leicester prices than the shops in Tooting. Some were too small to carry too much ready made stock but they were very reasonable and I didn't feel too much like I was out of my depth.

Otherwise any of the shops in Tooting will be fine and very helpful, I'm sure.

Come what may, I would definitely avoid buying anything online because the fit is so much smaller for Indian women's clothes than for English clothes. At 5ft 8 and blessed in the boob department most of the clothes looked like I was trying on my daughter's clothes for fun!

Good luck.

    • Someone on another website, seems to be in the know and like some of us attends the pre and post event meets this year held at the Clockhouse, said, "....but I think they wanted to get other organisers in to run the other weekend (like at Brockwell), and couldn't make it happen in the timeframe so withdrew the application.   Bearing in mind they are already advertising pre-registration for next year's tickets, I suspect they are a bit more organised this time and it will take a bit more to stop them..." Quite.  When the post meeting is announced I hope we shall all attend.  I shall share details on here when I get my email invite.  I hope we all bothered to complain too,

    • But Alice, most football stadiums in London have been in the areas they are in for around 100 years - so there aren't any people who can say they were surprised to find a stadium dropped into their midsts. And it's actually the noise pollution that is the biggest concern not the people flocking to the festivals (that's a pain for those in the most immediate vicinity). We don't live close enough to Brockwell or Peckham Rye to be impacted by the people attending but we are impacted by the noise from both - that is the real problem here and why densely populated inner areas within crowded cities are no place for music festivals. As I said before if I set-up a  sound system in my garden that disrupted as many people as Brockwell and Peckham Rye does trust me, the council would be round in a jiffy to shut it down....
