Not technically in East Dulwich but easy to get to and all in the aid of Charity.

Family Xmas Magic Show

6 ? 8pm 28th, 29th, 30th December (doors open 5.30pm). Venue Haslemere Hall, 2A Haslemere Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 7BE

International Magician of the world famous Magic Circle & Amigo?s Magic, Simon Rosselli, will be appearing and disappearing at Haslemere Hall, all in the aid of charity, with all the proceeds to be split between a local charity ? Malachi?s Only Wish ? a boy that was born with cerebral palsy and needs to raise ?80,000 for a selective dorsal rhizotomy operation in the USA. This will reduce the spasticity in his legs and hopefully enable him to walk unaided. For more information visit www.malachisonlywish.co.uk . The other charity is the Destiny Junior School in Uganda. The school provides education for the poorest children in the district; more than half the children are orphans. There are currently 7 staff members and 85 children attending (about half the children are orphans; with around 7 who are HIV+). They have also installed an 8000 litre fresh water tank, and dug a bore-hole - which provides fresh water for the whole village. www.irff-uk.org/index.php/2012-03-09-12-45-26/african-schools/destiny-junior-school

After the first 45 minutes, there will be an interval of 30 minutes, followed by another 45 minutes of Magic and Mayhem. Live animals from thin air, Head & Shrinking Illusion and one lucky person to be sawn in half. Great audience participation, with all children to receive a FREE Bunny Copter and a chance to meet Fluffy the Rabbit in the interval.

Tickets are ?7 for Adults and ?5 for Children. Family ticket (4) for ?20. Whilst there may be tickets available to buy on the door, it is highly recommended you book in advance as in the past this event has sold out. Tickets via Amigo?s Magic 0208 480 8176 or via the website. For additional information please visit www.amigosmagic.co.uk where you can also watch a taster video of the show.

    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
