Wondering what it's going to be like going back to work after having a baby? The NCT is running a Returning to Work workshop on Monday 16 March at Christ Church, Barry Road. There are also workshops running at Christ Church on Tuesday 16 July and Monday 16 November.

The workshop will look at the practical and emotional aspects of returning to work, and ways to deal with the challenges which may arise.

We will cover topics such as your career, leaving your baby, childcare, work/life balance, looking after you and your relationships and what to do if things aren?t working out. It will also explore practical steps for dealing with the first days and weeks of returning to work.

The workshop can be attended at any point during maternity or paternity leave but is probably most valuable for parents who are returning to work in a few weeks or months and are starting to think about the practicalities involved.

For more information or to book your place, please contact Alison on [email protected]. There are also workshops running in Lewisham on Friday 16 January, Monday 18 May and Wednesday 16 September. • Fair enough. But I think that, if my four-year-old rammed into a pedestrian, I would see it as a teachable moment for my child, even if I thought the pedestrian had over-reacted. Unless that pedestrian was abusive (the OP comes across as rattled, but not irate), I would try to bear in mind that it was my fault not to be supervising my kid. I don't think I'd laugh or caveat my apology, I'd just suck it up.  It's been a few years since my kids were causing these kinds of problems, but I did get shouted at by someone recently, because of something our dog did. I thought he was over-reacting - and he was actually quite aggressive and unpleasant towards me - but I took it on the chin because fundamentally I was in the wrong.
    • OP has said a lot about that. They've been a bit less forthcoming in describing their own behaviour in how they "raised the issue"! Perhaps that might explain the laughing onlookers. Perhaps not.
