Just received an email from Southwark Council that they are combining the Community Council Fund and the Cleaner Greener Safer Revenue fund into one single, new Neighbourhoods Fund worth ?542,000. Applications for local ED projects open now.

No connection (other than I belong to a ED community group, so am on the Southwark mailing list for stuff like this).

Announcing the new Neighbourhoods Fund

A single, new Neighbourhoods Fund worth ?542,000 is launched today, 5th January, combining the Community Council Fund and the Cleaner Greener Safer Revenue fund into one simple application process.

The Neighbourhoods Fund will allow community councils to make decisions locally on neighbourhood priorities and provide the means of getting good ideas off the ground. We are looking for applications which recognises the importance of local action by communities, in developing relationships, making neighbourhoods come to life, and increasing skills and abilities which mean communities can grow from strength to strength.

You can find out more about the fund by via this link http://www.southwark.gov.uk/neighbourhoodsfund where you can read the information sheet and guidance notes which will inform how the fund will work and what type of projects would be suitable for funding.

This fund will help communities to get ideas off the ground. If you are part of a Southwark community group, or you know someone who is, please let them know the good news!

Please note the fund will close at 12 Noon on Monday 16 February, and applications received after will not be considered.

The merging of these two funds appears to have seen an overal budget reduction.

Eitherway if you have an idea for a local project please do apply. If anyone would like advice or information about costs of things, what could work please do get in touch.

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
