What has become of The Dulwich Kebab near the Library?

Recommended Posts

Have noticed with a degree of distress that Dulwich Kebab has closed and is under refurbishment and new management. I know that the really pleasant guy who ran the shop had been unwell on a couple of occasions last year and I just wanted to check if anyone knew if he was ok?

I hope the new management don't double the prices and rename it "The Straits of Marmara Lacrosse Club" or similar...

Mrs Terrapin walked by The Dulwich Kebab yesterday and spoke to the new owner who was doing some work there and got an update...

Sadly it appears that the the previous owner had the misfortune to suffer a heart attack and has decided to retire - he has moved back to Turkey to be with family. It all happened in a bit of a rush which, considering the regularity with which I frequented this establishment, may explain why it was all a bit of a surprise.

The new guy is hoping to open in a couple of weeks, and happily it won't have a silly name.

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
    • It's firework season now up until early Jan 2026. Starting with celebrating the failure of terrorist Guy Fawkes on November 5th! BOOM!
    • Get used to it! 'major incidents' are a regular occurrence these days! some ignored by mainstream media.
