Water Softener System

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a very good and reliable water softener system? How much should we budget? There is a promo for one on Groupon by a company called EWT Technologies for ?575 (?499 if you go directly to the company. Does anyone have any experience with this company?

Also, what are the ongoing costs of having such a system in place? E.g periodic salt purchase for the system.

We were planning to get one and have been advised more trouble than they are worth in maintenance and costly in salt!

Also, you are not supposed to drink softened water (that sounds ridiculous...... Maybe im remembering that part incorrectly!)

We got one through a company called Harvey's. It was quite a bit more than that tho. We paid ?125/month for a year and now its ours. The only other running cost is salt blocks, approx ?80/year. We have a separate tap for drinking water. Really enjoy having 'soft' water, great for showers, has helped with psoriasis/skin problems and has really improved the calcium build up in the kettle etc.
