Nimble Arts is piloting a new series of art and crafts classes for adults that you can bring your pre-walking baby along to (or come without a baby if you'd like!). These are classes aimed at adults, hosted in a safe, baby-friendly environment, well fuelled by tea and biscuits. Our next session is Wednesday 4th February at the Old Nuns Head at 2 - 3.30pm, led by lovely artist Hannah from Art Market. By the end of this session you'll have a gorgeous decoupaged item you can take home with you - this could be a large papier mache letter, or an animal or another shape.

If you want to choose the letter yourself you'll need to book at least a week in advance so we can make sure we have the right ones in stock, for later bookers, we will have some choice of other shapes available :)

ED Forum users get ?3 off the normal price - book at http://nimblearts.co.uk/?page_id=1033 and use discount code 'edforum' and your ticket will just be ?9, including all materials and buckletloads of tea and biscuits!

As mentioned before, we're piloting these sessions with view to doing more workshops aimed at parents with tiny tots over the next term, so if you're interested in finding out more in the future, have a burning desire (or brilliant idea!) for us to run any sort of specific class, please do get in touch with [email protected].

Don't forget that if you want to choose your letter you'll need to sign up by this Friday! If you book after this, we will have some stock items available, but can't guarantee we'll have all letters...

See some of you next week!

Still a few places left! We've ordered all items and letters requested so far, but we're going to do an extra order on Monday and we hope things will get in on time. If there are spaces, we will have a few generic items available for spontaneous people!

    • I heard them & our two dogs were extremely upset by it..  bad enough during the evenings but at least can have music on to dilute the noise!   Some people have literally zero thoughts for others!!
    • I have signed that petition.  Someone was letting off loud fireworks at about 3 am this morning. They woke me up.   I don’t know where they were exactly but it sounded like they were in the vicinity of Dog Kennel Hill.
    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
