My recommendation for a builder

Hi, I haven't posted here very often but this board has been tremendously helpful for me when trying to find out if I should buy on the Champion Hill Estate (I did, thanks!) and to finding a builder. So I thought I should return the favor for people looking for a builder.

After reading numerous threads here and meeting a few builders I decided to go with Mark Elsebach of 'Me Home Improvement'.

I have to say that I have been incredibly happy with Mark's work - first of all he took a lot of time to really understand my requirements, the current state of the place and what needs to be done - which led to a very detailed estimate. As we went along there were a few additional requests I had which he advised me on professionally, costed them and was able to incorporate into his work without any issues.

With regards to the actual work, the quality of finish is top notch. All the agreed work was carried out to highest standard, there were several things done 'as he went along' without having to ask for it and lots of smaller stuff for free, and the whole place looks completely transformed. Don't just take my word for it - a lady living next door, also planning to renovate her flat, came over, took a look around, and was so impressed that she hired him on the spot to do her work too!

Last but not least a personal observation - Mark is extremely helpful. I am a very difficult client - I was clearly only half as much around as I should have been, I was not always able to make proper decisions (due to work abroad) and couldn't get all the things myself I should have done. So Mark picked up all of that for me, without ever getting annoyed about it, from choosing fixtures for the bath, to driving around getting tiles and so on. Without his help I couldn't have done it.

So, long story short - if you need a builder give Mark a shout! His number is 07743 825945.

If anyone wants a more personal feedback please send me a PM.

Thanks again also to everyone on this board for their help in my process of choosing this area!

Chris

    • You have to use the right extinguisher for the type of fire - water/foam not to be used for live electrical fires for example. A quick Google says powder extinguishers can be used on the most different types of fire. In a public/commercial setting fire extinguishers have to be serviced every year. Not sure the recommendation for residential ones, but when you buy extinguishers and fire blankets check if there's an expiry date.
    • Thanks, yes I need the y piece for the water to go to IN both washing machine AND the dishwasher but the y piece doesn’t fit on the B yellow pipe…  I’m not worried about the waste pipe for now, I’m just concerned about the supply to get water in to both appliances
    • Not sure about the word “input” - do you mean outflow / waste ? Red figure A looks like the sink overflow. If B is the washing machine outflow then that’s where you want your Y fitting. ( assuming all above conjecture is correct). I’d put a cap on that chrome threaded dead connection too. Don’t just rely on the valve. It all looks a bit of a mess TBH 🫣.
    • Yard Sale does have some seating but not as much as FM.
