That's why we always went to the Grove or The Plough for the gardens. Although I do vaguely remember being allowed into the saloon bar in a Bermondsey pub. The smell of fags and booze was intoxicating to my young hooter. On family holidays in South Wales completely different. Children welcomed into pubs with open arms in the 1970s.
