Hiya.

Geeky metal detectorist here!

Have you lost anything metal of value recently? Keys, valueables, jewelry?

Have you been unable to recover it?

I may be able to assist. I'm a 'metal detectorist' (it's my hobby/interest)and I may be able to recover lost rings, keys etc etc for you. No charges...I am interested in this as a pastime. My most recent finds are a silver William and Mary 6d, and a Louis XIII "Double Tournois" circa 1630s. Lovely history, but rather worn so not of any great value.

If you have lost stuff in your garden, on your driveways, yards etc, there is a chance I could recover it. Additionaly, you may remember where you last saw your lost item, such as car parks, paths and so on, and I may be able to recover it for you.

Alternatively, you may just be interested to see if there is anything of historic interest in your garden or under your front yard etc.

I am a member of a National Federation for MD's, and I have public liability insurance. I also have an ID card, and I will come with other proof of identity, just for re-assurance.

You get back your lost item (hopefully!)and I get some fun and probably a cup of coffee/tea.

To get in touch; PM me here, or [email protected], or 07585273685.

    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
