Crime rate and safety - Appleshaw House and the surroundings (Champion hill Estate)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just rented a property in Appleshaw House, Champion Hill Estate. It looks very nice, however I came across some stats and opinions in forums, saying that the crime rate is pretty high and it's not very safe.

Can you share with me your thoughts on the crime rate and the safety around Appleshaw House and Champion Hill Estate?

Many thanks!

There was a previous thread on this, started in 2011 with more recent updates in 2014. Opinion is it's a nice place to live, I've always found it a peaceful place to walk through.

You'll be fine.

I used to live in an area where there were frontdoor shootings up the road, a firearm supposedly went off in my neighbours house (and armed police stormed the place), and several shady looking kids were always gathered by the station.

Nothing ever happened. Any incident would always be a personal matter between two parties or gang-related.

Unless you're in a gang, or do something to specifically piss someone off - you'll be fine.

    • Typically the way 'family run businesses' operate is either to have family members continue the business, or to sell on, either as a site (in this instance) or as a going concern. Either which way this is the way the owners create a 'pension' from the business. The number of suggestions as to alternatives makes me feel that the market for small repairing garages locally may be well served, so selling on the site makes the best financial sense for the owners. It's a sign not of the times but of normal business realities.
    • I agree it's a shame, but it is not a "sign of the times", unless you think that up to now people have never grown older and retired!
