Pete Cooper & Richard Bolton : The Old Nun's Head, Friday 13 March, 7.45pm, ?7.

Floorspots very welcome.

?Cooper and Bolton? are Pete Cooper (fiddle, mandolin and vocals) and Richard Bolton (cello and guitar). They?ve played numerous gigs at folk clubs and many festivals .Their musical influences are diverse, but they identify their music - both traditional tunes and songs, and their own highly original new pieces - as ?Contemporary English Roots?.

They find a potent source of musical inspiration, and historical focus, in the strange affinity between English fiddle music in its pre-Victorian heyday, which was surprisingly diverse in its sources and inspiration.

"...tremendous feel and focus" Chris Mills, Fiddle On

    • How about trying the upstairs of some local pubs like EDT? They prob won't stay open until wee small hours but worth a try... or night at Rivoli Ballroom Catford (too old?!) or somewhere up in town for drinks rather than hiring somewhere.
    • Sadly crime does seem to be going up in terms of opportunists and street crime / bike thefts etc. Lack of CCTV in this area means it's more of a target than some neighbouring areas according to police (when they sent victim support round after our car had its catalytic converter stolen twice in 6 months by organised gang complete with balaclavas, iron bars and a chainsaw.. driving a 4x4). Crime still relatively low by some parts of London standards but a worrying trend if burglars are trying their luck when people are actually home. Wonder what local police/ MP thoughts are in terms of whether they could organise more community policing patrols. I read a woman was punched in the face on/near Lordship Lane in an unprovoked attack a week or two ago. Terrifying.
    • We had shutters and roller blind supplied and fitted by Affordable Shutters when we first moved into our house in 2012 and highly recommend them. One of the poles and a couple of shutter staples recently came loose and they scheduled in a visit when they were in the area at no charge. Lovely customer service, great quality, honestly cannot fault their service (shutters are made to measure so you have to wait but they're worth waiting for). https://affordableshutters.co.uk/
