Wine and Watery Yarns: Meet Two of Dulwich Books? Favourite New Authors of 2015

Recommended Posts

On Thursday 26th March Dulwich Books invite you to discover two of our favourite new voices of this year, Catherine Chanter and Sara Taylor.

Over the past few years we?ve been delighted to showcase some of the most exciting new writers hitting our shelves, including the likes of Jessie Burton (The Miniaturist), Eimear McBride (The Girl is a Half Formed Thing) , and Kevin Powers (The Yellow Birds) to name but a few. Now we?d like to introduce you to our hotly tipped new picks for literary stardom.

Sara Taylor is the author of ?The Shore,? Dulwich Books? owner Sheila hailed the book as one of her predictions for this year?s major awards longlists and described it as ?storytelling at its best? a rich and stunning novel with mesmerising and wonderful narrative threads.?

Catherine Chanter is the author of ?The Well,? when our bookseller Dave read it he described it as ?a spectacular debut novel which starts in a world reminiscent of Margaret Atwood?s ?A Handmaid?s Tale? then drags you into a tense psychological thriller.?

The evening will be hosted by Editorial Director at Canongate, Louisa Joyner.

This event takes place on Thursday 26th March at 7.30pm. Tickets are ?6 which includes a glass of wine and canap?s. Or for ?20 you can get both books and a glass of wine and canap?s; available from Dulwich Books in person, phone on 0208 670 1920, email [email protected] or online from http://dulwichbooks.eventbrite.co.uk/?s=32033232.

However I think all women moderate their behaviour when on their own, walking at night especially as they fear danger. Two interesting articles https://www.statista.com/statistics/288298/female-victims-of-homicide-england-and-wales-by-relationship-to-offender/?srsltid=AfmBOoqZ9-CIEJWe9kesKy2G_KWxjXPh-tXMRsLvKim0M6mS00dksiKH https://www.theguardian.com/education/2025/sep/23/majority-of-girls-and-young-women-in-uk-alter-behaviour-to-feel-safe-study-finds?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other   Other crimes https://crimerate.co.uk/london personally I always go for the most crowded train carriage late evening and I carry my keys in my hand when walking from the train station…. It’s that fear of violence that is scary …
    • What ever they decide I would have thought that the skate park would not be staying but really hope I am wrong as in my minds eye, I see the skate park as potential parking spaces after all if it is going to be community, flats, retail units, cafe, etc folks are going to want to have the parking availability - Amir like the parade of shops opposite. if the skate park goes then I think it is Dulwich Estate obligation to find another suitable area… a lot of community spirit and hard work went into developing the skate park and the youngsters should be very proud of what they have done  and achieved.
    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
