I am currently registered with Dulwich Medical Centre (Crystal Palace Road) and absolutely frustrated and disappointed, this is just the worst GP practice I ever came across in London. There are good doctors there but getting an appointment is an absolute nigthmare, you need to wait 1 month for your appointment. Also I once booked an appointment to have a blood test done by the nurse and it was the worse experience ever. The poor girl didn?t have much experience and was "playing" with my veins, I was in so much pain but trying to be patience as I could see she was a beginner. I rather to go to the hospital and queue for a blood test than book another appointment with the nurse. Anyway, 3 years of bad experience and I am willing to move to another GP practice in East Dulwich but wondering if anyone can recommend a surgery with good doctors and that you don?t need to wait 1 month for an appointment? Any suggestions??

Many thanks!

I'm at Forest Hill Road Group Practice, which I think is good. However, it's also struggling with appointments for non-urgent matters - the first available is 7 April at the moment - due in part to a recent influx of patients from other practices I understand. You can sign up for Patient Access and book appointments online which is great. And they are pretty good when you need an urgent appointment - my better half got a same day appointment for a recent nasty chest infection without any problems (he was in a bad way though!).

I checked Melbourne Grove but the reviews are as bad as Dulwich Medical Centre... :(

So far The Gardens have the best reviews but I will wait for more opinions. I think that is unnaceptable to have to wait 1 month for an appointment. I work in a GP practice in Clapham Junction and people get appointments within 1 or 2 days.

Anyway, I know my veins are very tricky but usually I don?t have problems... the nurse was trying hard, so hard that I could feel her adjusting the needle inside my vein which, trust me, it was a very unpleasant experience. At some point I feel like I was going to faint but anyway, this is not the main problem with the Practice, main problem is getting appointments and also, they are not great in solving problems, they just make things more complicated. I feel sorry for the receptionists there!

Thanks for your help!!

    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
