I am not religious but would like my daughter to have an understanding of faith and different religious beliefs. I would like her to realise that Easter is not just about the Easter bunny and chocolate. I took her to a Christigle service at Christmas and we talked a bit about how diffent people believe different things about Christmas. She is 4yo and has not experienced someone she knows dying although she asks about it a lot. For the moment I was sticking to Christian beliefs although some of my close friends are Jewish so she does know children who celebrate this time of year in a different way. So, how have you explained Easter to a child this age?

    • Do you mean they are chopping branches from trees in your garden? I would definitely get advice on that eg from the neighbourhood police. I'm not familiar with the law, but that sounds like trespass to me, even if they are not actually standing in your garden. People are entitled to chop off branches etc which are overhanging their own garden, but I am pretty sure they are  not allowed to lean over and chop off anything in yours, whether they dislike it or not.
