Builders recommendation: Valdex

I would like to write a recommendation for Valdex. They have been excellent and can fully recommend them.

I really appreciate the forum and often come here to look for tradesmen. We've had mixed experiences based on recommendations for builders and would like to share a good experience and give a bit of background on how we came across Valdex.

Last year we used a company, which at the time was highly recommended here. We had a terrible time with them. They let us down and didn't finish the works. After this ordeal, we became a lot more careful when following recommendations, and a very kind fellow forum user allowed me to come to her house and see the work done by Valdex, as I wanted some reassurance the recommendation was sound.

After seeing the standard of the works in her house, I contacted Valdex and the experience has been flawless, from first contact to finishing the works. Excellent communication, finished on time and within the budget. When we added extra works, a new quotation was generated and clearly explained and agreed.

We had our attic insulated and boarded. Internal pipes re-routed and new wardrobes created, front door removed and replaced, we also had the timbers at the front of the house removed and new ones fitted. We needed some modifications to the frame for the vestibule door, which they very skilfully carried out in order to fit a new door.

I highly recommend them and happy to receive PMs if you need further reassurance.

    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
