Cafe Provencal, Herne Hill - no service, poor attitude, slack staff

Recommended Posts

Phil, sadly none of those materials you list are ideal for petanque - def not turf or shingle (check out Balls Brothers at London Bridge / Hayes Galleria for how not to construct a piste). Have never played on sand but can't imagine that it would make for a particularly good game. I've played on many different surfaces but my choice would be something similar to RedGra football pitch or crushed gravel (see Brockwell Park).

According to the experts at www.petanque.org:

The surface is important. A loose surface such as gravel (10mm to dust ) is preferred since its properties tend to hold the Boules back from rolling too far.

There you go. Having said that, it's worth checking out The Leather Bottle pub in Earlsfield. They have a terrain which is,for the most part, playable. You might be able to pick up a few pointers on construction from the owners?

Bring it on, PGC! We'll play for the piste and Bragging rights. First to 13 points wins, try not to kiss any fanny ;-)

    • Yes, we have a Casio CT-S100 we no longer need, except I dont think we have the headphones any more. It has a USB connection. £50? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7333639
    • Thank you! She is both spayed and microchipped, and reported missing on Petlog and with the vets.   She normally never goes out the front, certainly for never more than 10-15 minutes, so this is definitely new territory for her. There is lots of dense foliage across the road so there are plenty of places she could be hiding if she is spooked, so we are hoping she will come back when she is calm. The weather isn't helping, she never goes out in the rain. Thank you again!
    • Hi, Have you been letting her out the front door onto the street or would this be a first & therefore unfamiliar with the area? Does she respond to a name & is she spayed & microchipped? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes & will of course be looking our for her. I hope you are reunited with her soon. If not already, notify your street & surrounding streets (find out if they have Whatsapp groups) Dox will print & deliver free missing posters https://www.doxdirect.com/help/free-missing-pet-posters/ Call her at dusk & dawn when street & foot traffic is at its lowest.
