Meet the Author: David Mitchell in Conversation at Dulwich Books Thursday 18th June 7pm

Recommended Posts

On Thursday 18th June Dulwich Books is honoured to host an event with David Mitchell.

Storyteller extraordinaire, twice shortlisted and once longlisted for the Booker prize. He writes literary, audaciously structured and fantastical novels with a flair and wit that makes them a joy to read. This is your opportunity to meet the bestselling author of ?Cloud Atlas? and ?The Bone Clocks? in an intimate and laid back event.

His latest novel, ?The Bone Clocks,? was longlisted for the 2014 Booker Prize and is an epic sweep of a book, starting in 1984 and ending in 2043, weaving in and out of the life of Holly Sykes, shot through with magical threads, literary establishment nods, and a healthy dose of villainy.

At the event David will be interviewed by arts journalist and author Laura Barnett whose forthcoming novel ?Versions of Us? is hotly tipped as one of this year?s breakthrough debut novels.

Tickets are ?10 and include a paperback copy of ?The Bone Clocks,? drinks & canap?s, bookable from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/david-mitchell-tickets-16167564621, by phone on 02086701920 or in person from Dulwich Books on 6 Croxted Road.

However I think all women moderate their behaviour when on their own, walking at night especially as they fear danger. Two interesting articles https://www.statista.com/statistics/288298/female-victims-of-homicide-england-and-wales-by-relationship-to-offender/?srsltid=AfmBOoqZ9-CIEJWe9kesKy2G_KWxjXPh-tXMRsLvKim0M6mS00dksiKH https://www.theguardian.com/education/2025/sep/23/majority-of-girls-and-young-women-in-uk-alter-behaviour-to-feel-safe-study-finds?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other   Other crimes https://crimerate.co.uk/london personally I always go for the most crowded train carriage late evening and I carry my keys in my hand when walking from the train station…. It’s that fear of violence that is scary …
    • What ever they decide I would have thought that the skate park would not be staying but really hope I am wrong as in my minds eye, I see the skate park as potential parking spaces after all if it is going to be community, flats, retail units, cafe, etc folks are going to want to have the parking availability - Amir like the parade of shops opposite. if the skate park goes then I think it is Dulwich Estate obligation to find another suitable area… a lot of community spirit and hard work went into developing the skate park and the youngsters should be very proud of what they have done  and achieved.
    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
    • Years ago, got my ears pierced, alcohol on site, gun ..done.. Simple.. Gosh, surely your daughter of mothers can recommend  - do you really need to post on forum? Or maybe you home school whatever.. still recovering from shock, posted along the lines of, advice needed about adopting/ buying a dog…. Guess I am now at a age, where I should just keep quiet and pass no comment and read  postings like a “soap” - cheaper than tv licence…
