Gap between Kitchen Wall and Floor

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need some help here.... I have discovered that in our kitchen there is a large gap between the floor and the wall of about 3cm in both horizontal and vertical direction . The gap runs through the back of the kitchen cabinet. Does anyone has any suggestion as to how this gap could be closed, or who could help me with that ?
Generally the gap wouldn't be so large but Thats a very typical detail that would normally be covered using a skirting board. You could get a skirting board the same height or smaller than you Kitchen Plinth so it will butt neatly into the plinth. Not a big job for a handyman..
To put down the skirting, I would need to move the cabinets away from the wall. Since the granite benchtop is resting on the cabinet, and the cabinet seems to be glued to the wall, is it a matter of removing those silicon between the benchtop and the wall tiles, and then reapply them when done, or more than that ?
The cabinet runs for almost 2 meter and it turns L-shape following the kitchen wall at the end. Unless I move out all the cabinet, I can't really see if the new skirting would have cover all the gap. There are also pipes that runs inside the gap, so I may have to have opening in the skirting to let them come through. The gap is definitely too big for sealant (I think !)

You really don’t have to keep saying about the electoral system    a) we all know about it b) it doesn’t matter    FPTP is the system we have always had and hopefully we will get rid of it someday but it is what it is    when anyone suggests changing the system Corbyn is right there at the front of the queue to prevent it   so its pointless him or any of supporters complaining about it    the evidence you want is the result of the elections.
