I know it is the end (and start) of financial years for the councils all across London (and elsewhere too) but why do they all elect to do roadworks at the same time (now) thus making a simple journey 30% longer

Today I went to the other side of Beckenham and in doing so went through 5 different sets of roadworks (3 with Lights controlling the traffic)

It does make me wonder what the road workers do with the rest of their year - Thinks "we are working just around the corner and have an extra load of tarmac, and I was wondering if you want' your drive done for ?200" !

    • Purse with cash and cards (including photo card) found in road local to East Dulwich Tabernacle. It will be here (107 Barry Road) all day (Sunday 21 December) if you want to collect or PM me.  In case some one else who knows R Howard, please alert her.    Thank you
    • Thanks Sue.  No the car just drove on.  We don't know if they noticed.  We were driving behind.  We were just glad we could be with the cat, and take him to the vet, rather than leaving him there 😞
    • Certainly the infamous (and mythical) SE London cat killer turned out to be foxes attacking dying and dead cats injured by cars, but fox: cat encounters do appear to happen, even where cats are victorious. Fox: adult humans less so. At least where foxes are the aggressors.
    • That was very kind of you to take the cat to the vet. Did the car not stop?
