you sure it's the same place? This place looks new - as in 'still smell the paint' new - 2-3 years ago I'm sure Bellenden Brasserie (serving whatever it was they served - definitely not African iirc) was still open wasn't it?

i love food - all food - chinese food - african food - caribbean food - indian food - thai food - etc. etc. humans are strange creatures especially in england if we are unsure about certain things we will avoid them - this is probably why some african/ caribbeean restaurants are not popular across the whole population as they are unsure of what an african dish etc. would consist of, where as most people even the most uncultured cockney would know what was in a Chicken jalfrezi.

therefore i think people restaurant owners etc. should do more to educate the massers on how great african and caribbean food is. if i owned this take away or what ever i would be standing outside offering free samples of my food. if the product is good people will come back - standard business practice.

    • Not local, I know but I swear by the Algerian Coffee Stores in Old Compton St. Fantastic old shop, great staff and huge selection of great coffees.

    • Shame. I wondered why they were asking for donations to help with running costs in last weeks issue. Been buying it for many years but only recently was thinking of giving it a miss as over the past couple of years it had become too politicised. Their South London Opinion page was particularly biased.
