Looking for a nice (comfortable, Central, hopefully waterside, not too businessy/bland) for a couple of nights in December en route to islands (oh yes, can't wait) in Bangkok

Taking 10 and 8 year old so would need inter connecting rooms or suite

Could spend a reasonable amount of dosh but don't want to break bank

I'm finding trip advisor mind boggling ditto my guidebook which isn't really helping me on best area to stay in.

Does anyone have any advice/tips? Much appreciated.

Hello

We went to Bangkok earlier this year and stayed here

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293916-d549701-Reviews-Centre_Point_Sukhumvit_10-Bangkok.html#REVIEWS

We rented a 2-bedroom suite which was great - you could put the kids to bed and not have to creep around after! There was plenty of space and a kitchenette. Lovely balcony with wonderful view. Pool. It's located in Sukhumvit Soi 10 which is very central. There's a tuktuk service from the hotel to the end of the soi, and from there you're in between 2 sky train stations (Nana & Asoke) from where you can travel around. Downsides, it's not a high end hotel with plush furnishings. Some of it is rather dated. Also breakfast can get busy unless you go quite early.

Centrepoint runs a number of service apartments around Bangkok.

Note, central is not really near to the river which is towards the west of the city. Some of the sites like Grand Palace, big temples etc are near the river.

We used to live in Bangkok, so happy to provide more info if needed!

I work for a website which recommends family-friendly stays around the world, and we recommend this hotel in BKK for families:

I've not been myself, but it looks pretty ideal to me with dedicated kids pool and games room, plus self-catering apartment-style accommodation.

Hope this helps. Have an amazing trip!

    • Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
    • I remember seeing something a few years ago on TV about a fox that was actually biting through people's shopping / takeaway food bags.  It was situated in an alleyway.  Not in London.  Very interesting in how the  urban foxes brain development has  been affected by their surroundings.   Not an exact quote from Darwin.  It's the adaptable that survive / not the strongest or the most intelligent.   I would be worried if a fox came close me.   Because they might be after my fur babies and they carry a lot of nasties.   Although they look beautiful from a distance or on a 🎄 card.

Southwark Council Christmas trees recycling arrangements 2025 - bit worrying for the future that they're emphasising the free bit. "We’ll collect and recycle your real Christmas tree for free!  Trees should not be taller than 5ft. You should chop any taller trees into smaller pieces. Remove all decorations and the pot or stand and recycle it by: putting your tree with your garden waste containers on collection day requesting a free collection if you do not have a garden waste collection  taking it to our Reuse and Recycling Centre [43 Devon Street, SE15 1AL open 08:30-16:30 Mon-Sun] If you live in a flat you must leave the tree: outside on the kerb visible for the collection crew not in a bin store" I'll add the link to the collection booking service when it opens on 22 December.
