I think it's www.toptable.co.uk (no 'the'! - unless I'm thinking of another site)

I've had mixed experience with it.. I've made one booking through the site, which the restaurant in question had no record of when we arrived. And on another occasion we did try-out one of the 'special offers' but (as nutty says) you're probably better-off sticking with a la carte. In our case, it took the staff some time to actually find-out whether any special offers existed, and once it became clear we were there to eat 'on the cheap' their interest levels dropped in our table.

But this was all a while ago now..

Oops yes sorry www.toptable.co.uk

I have to say I have had some great special deal meals - I hear you re set menus, but a lot of the offers are 50% off the a la carte prices.

I can highly recommend the Sunday lunch at The Marriott Marble Arch - ?12.50 for a great buffet instead of ?25.00!

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces. Access to East Croydon for days out in the South Coast
