Nanny recommendation - our fantastic nanny needs new role

Recommended Posts

Our nanny, Ana, is looking for a new role 3 or 4 days a week starting in early September. She has been our nanny for 4 years (except for 11 months on maternity leave) but we will no longer require a full time nanny when our youngest starts school in September.

She brings her daughter to work with her who is now 21 months and super sweet.

I have set out below my reference for her - I really can't recommend her highly enough.

If you are interested, please contact Ana direct: [email protected]

To whom it may concern:

I would highly recommend Ana as a nanny. In fact, I couldn't recommend her highly enough. She has been a nanny to our two daughters now aged 6 and 4 1/2 for the last 4 years (aside from 11 months whilst she was on maternity leave). She's totally reliable, professional, hard working and, most importantly, extremely caring for our girls. She takes their safety extremely seriously, she nutures them and looks after them as if there are her own. She is kind and patient with them and also has a good sense of humour. She teaches them great manners and has helped to build their confidence by the interest she takes in them and the loving way in which she engages with them.

She is also a good cook and cooks a good variety of healthy meals for them (as well as leaving the house immaculate at the end of the day). Ana is good at developing their reading, phonics, maths, etc by doing workbooks and reading with them. She is also great at hosting play dates with their friends.

Following her maternity leave Ana returned to work with us with her daughter Alexa who is now 21 months. Alexa is a sweet child who is well mannered and fits in really well with our family. Our girls adore her and it has been a real joy to seem them bond with her so brilliantly. Ana is extremely mindful of ensuring all 3 girls get her fair share of attention and that they are all respectful of each other.

Ana is really flexible and always listens to our views on things so respects the fact that we are ultimately the parents who have the final say on things.

We are only finishing with Ana as our youngest daughter is starting school and our childcare needs are changing. We are very sad to see her go. The girls will also be extremely sad to lose her from their daily lives.

I am happy to speak to anyone who is thinking about hiring Ana as a nanny.

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!

    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
