Mindfulness Workshop for Adults and Children - August

Recommended Posts

Hello East Dulwich,

Waves are announcing its Summer Mindfulness Workshops running this August at All Saints Church, West Dulwich.

Mindfulness is a secular practice that combines meditation and cognitive therapy to help participants reduce feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. It has also shown to help manage various medical conditions such as chronic pain and MS,MND Cancer. Mindfulness is also a great tool for everyday life to help your physical and mental well-being.

We also offer fun interactive children's workshops to teach children about their emotions, reactions and impulses. Children's Mindfulness has shown to improve children's focus and attention, decrease anxiety and worries, and improve sleep patterns, as well as helping them develop emotional maturity.

Waves coaches are all fully trained and use the latest techniques.

Hi John,

yes some studies have suggested that it can help manage Cancer (please note not cure!) This means that it can help a patient cope with the pain, and stress associated with the disease - which in turn can have a physical benefit. Studies also showed that meditation can grow back telomeres on our genes which shrink with old age and illness.

here's a few articles which you may find useful.

Hi John,

try this link - at the bottom it gives a summary of trials and results

http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancers-in-general/treatment/complementary-alternative/therapies/meditation

I read the link that you put up - but it doesn't mention mindfulness, just homoeopathic pills- which I'm sure you appreciate is nothing to do with my services.

What I did find interesting was the reference to the ''placebo effect'' - the power of the mind can bring about physical and mental well-being.

Please do not think that I'am advocating Mindfulness over traditional medicine - I'm advocating the practice in conjunction with traditional medicine to best serve the client.

There is also a fabulous documentary called 'The Connect' which shows lots of leading U.S. medical DR's and professors running clinical trials on the effectiveness Mindfulness with positive results.

    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
    • Years ago, got my ears pierced, alcohol on site, gun ..done.. Simple.. Gosh, surely your daughter of mothers can recommend  - do you really need to post on forum? Or maybe you home school whatever.. still recovering from shock, posted along the lines of, advice needed about adopting/ buying a dog…. Guess I am now at a age, where I should just keep quiet and pass no comment and read  postings like a “soap” - cheaper than tv licence…

    • I would'nt go locally I'd go to Maria Tash in Liberty..it'll be more expensive but they will do a good job and its their buisness not a 'sideline' to other beauty offerings. https://www.mariatash.com/store-locations/maria-tash-london-liberty?srsltid=AfmBOoqMz7Ev-4YqzrlkePX0n3i5JbiggGYSR9kU5z1p_ajP_jjQKqlt I have no experience of piercing at Polished but I went in to enquire about a manicure and I found the staff attitude pretty rude, looking me up and down when I walked in and just giving off a bad attitude like they just could'nt be bothered maybe because I'm not a glam 30 something?
