Friendly folk tunes session - last Mon of every month - old Nun's Head

Recommended Posts

We meet on the last Monday of the month upstairs at the Old Nun's Head for an informal tunes (not songs) session.

It is a fun way of learning by ear to play folk dance tunes from England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, US, etc.

For more confident players, we take it turns to teach one new tune each session and most in the key of D or G major.

The sessions are FREE but please buy a drink at the bar.

If you can play an acoustic instrument a bit which works in those keys, come along and give it a try, and meet some like minded people too.

We are building up a repertoire, and we run through a few of the ones we already know each session.

Please visit the beginners session page on the Goose is Out website for more details or reply to this post.

    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
    • GP not willing to refer you on? Say, to King's or similar. Odd
