PeckhamRose
As much as I adore our Eileen MBE the constant attempt to bring constant distinction to Peckham Rye Park SE22 and Peckham Rye Common SE15 is only of importance to cartographers and politicians. It's Peckham Rye Park to me, every glorious green open and closed space of it.And we cherish it. andypandy
Eileen Wrote:> Peckham Rye Park, opened in 1984, is ............-------Slight typo.....It originally opened in 1894. click here for more info and before that as Eileen points out it was Farm landTake a look at some old maps 1894 year the park opened and 1891 when it was farmland:18941891I too prefer PRP to Dulwich Park. There is a skate park in the middle of the park, a place which you might think would attract the wrong crowd. My 5 yr old son has gone there weekly since he was about 2 and can say in general the older boys look out for the young ones ( albeit in a off-hand, cool way) it's really very sweet. We moved from the Centre of ED to a 5 min walk of the park 2 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did.
