BAT TALK AT RYE BOOKS! With the London Wildlife Trust Tonight 7.00pm

Recommended Posts

An evening talk with Daniel Greenwood of London Wildlife Trust looking at the amazing world of London's bats

Join London Wildlife Trust for an evening discussing the world of bats at Rye Books. The talk will be given by Sydenham Hill Wood Conservation Officer Daniel Greenwood with a focus on the variety of local bats found in the area.

Sydenham Hill Wood is one of the largest remaining remnants of the Great North Wood, a landscape of woods and commons which originated from the wildwood that colonised after the end of the last Ice Age, 10,000 years ago. This means that an interesting range of bats have been present at Sydenham Hill Wood and the surrounding woods for centuries.

Targeted conservation work is undertaken at Sydenham Hill Wood by London Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers to enhance habitats for these declining animals. All our data suggests the work is succeeding, reflecting general stabilised populations of some species in the UK.

Bats also have a fascinating relationship to humans which is reflected in literature and wider culture, namely in Bram Stoker's Dracula and the TV, film and comic book franchise, Batman.

This is a free event, space is limited so places will be given on a first come first served basis.

Coffee, Tea & Cake will be available!

Best wishes,

All at Rye Books

    • Hello.   Thanks Nigel and Hparker 😀   I've got new slots available for new students looking for a piano teacher or guitar teacher.   You could start in the new term beginning September, or I'm also available adhoc-styles through the summer holidays at times.   I teach all ages, in most styles, in lots of different ways according to how you learn/like to learn.   Give me a call or text on 07730 402336.   I have connections to lots of performance opportunities/networks too.   I run regular events /student concerts, and play in bands/perform.   Natalie.
    • So do I, but I think they are in trouble as well.  Anyway, that space wouldn't be big enough.
    • I'm not talking about Starmer. I was responding to a post which  said that  Corbyn was unelectable. How people voted in the "more hotly contested election" is irrelevant. Corbyn wasn't leading the Labour Party then. Starmer was. And the turnout for Labour reflects that.
    • Reeves says she's in charge and no no's Rayners plan, what happens now?
