Next week from The 25th/28th June Greenwich+Docklands International Festival returns with a water-themed programme for 2009. The story of Greenwich and Docklands has been shaped and defined by water and, using this inspiration, the Festival will commission and present a range of extraordinary UK and international artists to provide a visionary water-based interpretation of the area. Highlights will include a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Baroque composer Handel with an outdoor son et lumiere inspired by the Thames entitled Water Music, as well as the UK premiere of French company Ilotopie?s Fous de Bassin, a poetic spectacle in which the performers will literally walk on water.....

TLS, politics aside, have you visited the Mediatheque at the NFT yet?

You can see films from a Lost London 1896 - 1945, all for nothing; along with over 1,300 titles from the National Archive of the BFI.

I think there's even a few Ken Loach titles in amongst them, along with Humphrey Jennings, Grierson and lots of public information/WW II propaganda shorts.

Enjoy, if you can tear yourself away from this bloody Forum, that is !

Thanks I may well do that. The Lady who rang me and suggested next Thursday is my age also and she might be interested in that, as well. ( thats if I can pull her away from Mountain-Biking, lol)

The Forum? Blame the ruddy English weather!

I gamble for a living on Betfair in the afternoon/evenings, when I'm not working at The Racetrack, so that is why The Forum is so convenient but I've wanted to take a break all week and get The Riverboat down but the ruddy weather has prevented this happening.

Maybe today Galli..

    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
