Grand National as above - have added Rainbow Hunter and then Hunt Ball and Pineau de Re...

Not hedged Liverpool yet. Hoping West Ham will roll over this weekend, but every game is a worry.

After my success on the GN yesterday I feel I can let the Liverpool bet ride this afternoon. If they win I'll consider options for the Pool v City game.

Pineau de Re was a tip passed on by a friend of mine via his sister who works for channel 4 racing. Won the Ulster Grand National apparently and I didn't even know there was such a thing. Two of the four tipsters in the Times yesterday had also got it to win so I put on a bit more.

Every horse is fancied by someone in the National so I didn't think to pass it on. It turned out to be a good tip but for that one there were probably so many others that I heard I just happened to follow this one as it came from a good mate and just thought I'd go along with it. Turned out a good decision for a change.

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.
    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
