We are a family in Dulwich looking for a nanny to care for our two daughters, India (aged 5) and Skyla (aged 2.5).

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday with the following hours:

-Monday 7:30am - 7pm

-Tuesday 7:30am - 6:30pm

-Wednesday 7:30am - 6:30pm

-Thursday 7:30am - 7pm

-Friday 9:30 - 5:30 pm

The role is to start at the end of August / beginning of September.

Both parents work full time and require a nanny who is willing to be flexible and there is often the opportunity for overtime if desired. Pay to be commensurate with experience.

India is at school (walking distance from the house). Skyla is currently at home but will be attending nursery on a part-time basis from January (term time only). Duties would include taking girls to school / nursery, and to activities (ballet, swimming, gymboree etc.) together with organising playdates and the usual home activities - the girls both love imaginative play and craft activities. We live on Court Lane so minutes from Dulwich Park and both girls love the park and also visiting Dulwich library.

We have a cleaner twice a week but would expect our nanny to take care of the girls' laundry (washing, ironing and changing bed sheets). We would also like someone who is willing to experiment with food with the girls.

The role is initially a 6 month role until March 2016 as mum will be having another baby at the start of March and taking maternity leave. For the right person, we would love to keep somebody on on a part-time basis over this period which would then revert to full time once mum returns to work (probably after the summer) although for the right person we would be willing to be as flexible as possible. Once mum returns to work, we will need a full-time nanny for the forseeable future and therefore see this as a long-term hire.

We have had our current nanny for 18 months and she has loved looking after our girls and being part of our family (she is moving on because she is re-locating). People often comment on how well the girls get on together. They have grown very close to their existing nanny over the past 18 months and we would want someone who can build that kind of relationship with them again.

Fluent English speakers and non-smokers only. Driver preferred.

    • Let's not forget this is the lowest level of local politics. If McCash really thought his defection could trash the Labour Party nationally, and it was loaded with invective and exhibitionism, then that's pretty much the definition of a "hissy fit"! Scooping the Green nomination for DaWN constituency is also going to be a lot harder for a Marxist arriviste than you suggest. There may be a wave of new, younger Polanski-ites that have joined the Green Party of E&W recently, but it's the long-standing, often retired members of the Party that tend to participate in candidate interview panels and bother voting in selections...
    • They've had 26 years or so of trading, and if anyone deserves decent retirement... In my view they're going out at the top. It's clearly being sold, assuming it all goes through as a very more more than just a going concern.
    • I had heard this was on the cards a while ago, sad, the end of an era, but well done Rod and Tim for stewarding a beacon of excellence for so many years.
    • Both your hopes will be fine, I think. Our waitress will stay on. The downstairs is getting refurbished, and the bar area enlarged, presumably by removing that awkward little 'lobby' by the loos.
