If you are fishing a lake you cannot 'cast' far enough to reach the fish, if you use a coventional canoe it is too unstable to cast.

That photograph shows that you can paddle out near the fish and then open the device to a triangle and cast to where the fish are active this gives the stability for the angler to stand up and cast.
