Moths - how to get rid?

We have moths in our basement conversion/ study.

I've got 2 Rentokil cassettes various lavendar bags down there, tried the Rentokil moth spray, and still I keep seeing the little buggers.

Has anyone fared better?

I've also tried putting clothing and blankets that are stored down there in vacuum bags but they don't seem to ever stay shut. If anyone has a recommendation of vacuum bags that actually work and stay closed then pls also throw them my way

A friend had an outbreak of moths. Sadly they also collect ancient textiles !! They had to get pest control in to fumigate. There were sticky pads around to collect any left, and monitor. They had to get what textiles they could frozen to kill the pests.

Don't be shy with the spray. I had to use 2 cans over the space of 2 weeks before getting rid of them (2 week cycle they breed in). Came back in a year but a blissful year it was.

Be careful of the sprays.First time i used one, the spray bounced back into my face and my lips swelled up and broke out in blisters (yes, I know, yuck) but it shows how toxic they are.

They really are a problem each year. They have destroyed large areas of my Axminster Carpets and some clothes.

The adult female, which is around a centimetre long and an easily-camouflaged silvery-brown, will lay her eggs, which resemble rice grains, on clothing fibres.

Females lay around 40 eggs over a three?week period, then die, although males can mate throughout their full life cycle.

It takes only a few days for eggs to hatch, then they remain as larvae for up to two years, munching away at whatever natural fibres they can find.

You need to Hoover daily to keep them at bay.. which may not be practical as they usually lay their eggs

under furniture that you probably do not move around too much.
