At last I have found a decorator who has my high standards.

I don?t usually recommend company?s on the forum but I have just had Gary Skinner from First Choice Decorating wallpaper my sons bedroom. They are a breath of fresh air. They are local. The wallpaper was a complex repeat pattern. Gary and his team took it in their stride and the result is wonderful. They were on time, competitively priced, thoughtful in the application of the wallpaper and to cap it all jolly nice chaps.

I believe they can also turn their hands to kitchen fitting, bathroom refurbishments, light building work, property maintenance and repairs.

On the strength of the wallpapering I have already booked him to do additional works around my home.

A real diamond in the rough.

  I think dog ownership has gotten out of control both in raw numbers and in behaviour Seems to be waaaay more dogs and owners around compared with 10-20 years ago. And I've been bitten in the last 6 months with a completely clueless owner who saw no problem

  On three occasions I've had a dog run up to me. On two occasions, including one last week, the dog was aggressive. The third time it was a whippet who was being playful but did nip me on the leg. On each occasion, the dog owners were completely ineffectual. The owner of the aggressive Staffordshire didn't call the dog off at all and the other two owner's attempts were pathetic and half hearted. I have a friend who is a dog walker. She says that you need to shout at the dog. You call its name and say 'come here.' loudly.. If you are a dog owner, you need to learn how to control your dog, or keep it on a lead.

  A political weekly I subscribe to was often delivered to me on Monday or Tuesday after it's Thursday publication. Or later. Never before Friday. They have changed their delivery from Royal Mail to a courier service and for the last 3 weeks it's been posted around 7:30 on Thursday morning or before! Presumably that must now cost in for them. The slow death of Royal Mail may not be that slow...
