Hello

We moved from ED to East Devon last year and we are looking for someone to house/ dog and cat sit for a couple of weeks while we are away on holiday 20 October - 4 November.

We have a beautiful house in the county with lots of space both inside (play room filled with toys, crafts, arts bits, games etc) and outside (three acres of garden, fields - play area, trampoline, football post, pop up tennis field, etc)

There are plenty of places to explore, either from the house - beautiful walks and bike rides; or by car along the coast (Lyme Regis and Charmouth - both on the Jurassic coast are ten mins away) and on the surrounding hills.

Some interesting market towns are also nearby Axminster (10 mins), Bridport (20 mins) with its West Bay beach - otherwise known these days as Broadchurch where the series was filmed. Exeter is also 40 mins away either by train or car. Bath and Frome not far.

Anyway, you won't get bored.

Our main concern is our little puppy. When I say little I don't mean that literally. She is a five month Doberman so quite large already. She is very well behaved (both with adults and children - we have a 3 and a 6 year old who pull her ears, put necklaces on her and sleep curled up with her). She sleeps through the night (9 hours) and is very soppy. However she is still a puppy so full of energetic and very curious and needs two good walks a day (at the very least 40 minutes). This is actually easier than it sounds as there is lots of beautiful walking to do around here!

If you fancy a break from London please get in touch so I can send you more infos and photos.

Thank you

Hello

I have a partner and a little boy and we wish we could have a dog but our lifestyles don't suit it. We would love to look after your big puppy. I have grown up with dogs so am very experienced. I had Kerry Blues all my life so I am well used to managing demanding beasts. My partner is all about the cats, his family have 3.

We usually head over to Ireland for a few weeks to a stud with lots of yard dogs and horses but work is preventing us going at the right time this year so this would really make up for that. I know you are probably inundated so this is a hail mary!

Thanks x

Hi, we are a family of 4 in Herne Hill; 9 year old twins and a 10 year old, and me, an animal lover and experienced animal 'lookerafterer'. We could house sit for 10 days i.e. over the half term which obviously leaves a few days either side to cover but please text me if you think this might be of use. We are used to dogs and animals of all kinds (I used to walk a young Doberman and a young boxer too so I know all about the energy levels!) and we are a kind, considerate and trustworthy bunch (I hope).

Kindest

    • Does anyone have the same problem.  I am 79 and have sent my licence renewal form to the DVLA on the 21st October 20 which they have received. I have just received a letter from them them dated 22 December 2025 today saying my licence is with their Drivers Medal Department and will be processed as soon as possible. This follows my telephone call to them after three weeks  from the October date as I had not received my licence back as per their time frame. I also followed this up mid December after finally getting through but did not get any confirmation as to what the situation was. Is this normal practice? On the 7 January 2026 I will be unable to drive as my licence has not been sent back. I have no medical issues and meet all the requirements with no problem as per previous renewals in fact nothing has changed health wise.Their the letter states if they need any more details from me, they will contact me directly. Why has it taken 2 and a half months get get this far? Is this some sort of ploy to get older drivers to finally give up their driving by making life difficult as possible.  Has anyone else experienced this.
    • You're being a little disingenuous here. It is simply not true that "the area should remain suburban 2/3 storeys maximum" because: -> the area the development is in isn't 2/3 storeys maximum today - as evidenced by the school on the lot adjoining the development to the south, as well as the similarly-sized buildings to the north and east.  -> the SPG doesn't preclude this type of development anyway. This "genie in a bottle" stuff is desperate barrel-scraping. Now you're raising the spectre of a 9 storey building on the Gibbs & Dandy site (the chance would be a fine thing) but also arguing Southwark is too slow to approve things and opposed to development more than 2-3 storeys!
    • The sites in question though are not comparable to the builders yard by the station and less likely to be granted planning permission for 9 storey buildings. The builders yard fronts on to the railway line on one side and virtually no residential property surrounding on the other sides. The Gibbs & Dandy /Kwikfit and ED trading trading estate are surrounded at close proximity by residential, and in the case of the latter a Grade II building, so there would more stringent height restrictions. Both these sites are tired and sad looking, and in need of development to provide much needed housing.
    • Not sure if this is any help but was initally told to use google chrome as the browser and the code was the reference. However the person at Southwark parking took pity on me and did it for me
