We are a friendly American/Colombian family (based in Brixton) looking for a flexible, energetic, well-organised, Spanish-speaking nanny/housekeeper to look after 2 lively children, Kika (6 years old) and Mylo (almost 4 years old).

You would be required to collect the children from school (3pm), take them to after-school activities, help them with their homework and look after them until we get back home. The other half of the role also includes house-keeping tasks like light cleaning, laundry and keeping the house tidy on a daily basis. Another important part of the role is that you will be expected to cook healthy dishes for the whole family (some experience here would be a plus).

This is a part-time position so we are looking for someone who will be happy to work 20h a week. The days are Monday to Thursday (3-8).

We are looking for a nanny/housekeeper who is willing to commit for at least 1 year (ideally more).

The job will start in September.

Please email us your CV and cover letter if you think you can meet the following criteria:

- Driving license (experience driving in UK would be a plus)

- Minimum 3 years childcare experience

- Fluency in English and Spanish as you will be expected to speak in Spanish to the kids

- Right to work in the UK

- CRB check and ideally a First Aid certificate

- Good references

We can offer ?12 per hour to the right candidate. Please send applications by Friday 28th of August. Interviews will be taking place on the 1st of September.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, I'm Cristina, I'm from Spain and I'm 23 years old. I'm actually looking for a job as nanny.

I'm already living in London since one week.

A year ago I finished the Degree of Pre-school Teaching and I?m currently studying for the public examinations in Spain, to work as a pre-school teacher or and English teacher. Also I have a certificate in English (First Certificate of Cambridge) and I?m actually studying to get the Advanced Certificate in English.

I was a year between Bradford (England) and Edinburgh (Scotland), studying and performing my placement with young children in different nursery schools.

I have also studied music; I studied piano for five years.

As for my personality, I consider myself a very responsible, orderly, active, outgoing, caring and dynamic person. I like quiet environments, interact with people, enjoy cooking, healthy food, sports, cinema, nature and music. I am not a smoker.

Looking forward to hear from you!

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces. Access to East Croydon for days out in the South Coast
    • Could East Dulwich or Forest Hill work? Some properties on Underhill Road and Wood Vale have large gardens e.g.  https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/161079866#/?channel=RES_BUY  You'd be close to the Horniman, Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye. Transport might not be what you're looking for though e.g. a 15 minute walk to Forest Hill station for the East London line or mainline into London Bridge.
