There's now a petition against 084_ numbers e.g. 0844, on NHS services (such as that used by Forest Hill Road Surgery), on the 'Say No to 0870' website/ No. 10 petition website:

Signed, angry Forest Hill Road surgery user.

PR, I too have protested in the past, via the PCT, a previous petition, etc. But nothing has changed.

And today I had to call the doc again. So I also registered my protest - again - with the FH practice manager, and signed the current No 10 petition. FH practice blames BT/Ofcom/the mobile operators. But the choice of 08-number was theirs alone. They also mention that other govt agencies use 08-numbers, as an excuse. But two wrongs don't make a right.
