At the Goose Green Fair, I spoke to a man from Dulwich Park Friends and I said I would post something about them on the forum. A particular point of interest is that they hold volunteer days once a month for people interested in helping out (I recall that there was a bluebell planting day in the spring).

The website is www.dulwichparkfriends.org.uk and this is what they say about themselves on their introductory page:

"Dulwich Park Friends is a registered charity which was set up eight years ago. We currently have 300 family memberships. Our role is to liase with the council and to encourage them to look after the park in the interests of the visitors to the park.

If you think the park is being well managed, and you don't want this to decline, you should join the friends to give us more authority with the council.

If you think the park could be better managed, and you want to take an active part in promoting it, you should join the friends and work with us to improve it.

The committee meets once a month and has meetings with the council officers regularly to discuss a whole range of topics. Our core duty is to agree improvements with the council and then fundraise in support of them.

The more members we have, the more our voice is heard."

If you would like more information , please visit the website. :)

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.
    • Sorry if I’m being slow but there’s no point in having a gate then is there?  Would have thought it was basic manners to respect someone’s property

    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
