hello...starting to think about pre-schools for our 2 year old daughter. I believe there are feeder schools for some of the local schools but would love to hear peoples' experiences (good and bad). After missing out on the nursery lottery (people applying for places pre-birth!!, what....) I hope you can help :-) Happy to receive PMs to avoid naming or shaming anyone. Thanks for any help!!

Thanks Monniemae - understand there are entrance exams at some schools plus crazy catchment areas. I wasn't sure whether attending the pre-school helped gain a place, assuming exams are passed etc)

Hi alaska721 - we're considering both options. Really interested to hear others' experiences. Interesting to note this topic has already received 200+ views.

Thanks all

Entrance exams are for private schools, whereas catchment areas apply for state schools. As far as I'm aware, catchment isn't such an issue for private schools.

No experience of private, but have used a school nursery for my 3 children from age 3ish before moving to reception. In state schools, a nursery place does not guarantee a reception place.

Good luck!

Prior to all of this, it was Oriental Star - a wonderful Chinese takeout run by lovely people, & we were genuinely sad to see it go. It took a long time to find anything in this area that came close, & honestly, I still don't think we quite have.
