Hello,

I am a researcher at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a resident of East Dulwich. I'm currently running a pilot study to determine the role of oculomotor control (i.e. eye movements) in cognitive and motor development. I am seeking new participants that are currently aged between 7-10 years and that were born preterm (less than 35 weeks gestation).

If you and your child are interested in taking part, your child would be asked to complete two short tasks: one measuring vocabulary and the other using an 'eye tracker' to analyse eye movements (i.e. tracking ability, attention). The eye tracker is non-invasive - it is just a small camera placed under a computer monitor that is in the distance. Children often enjoy seeing how this cool technology records their eyes!

I would work with your child one-to-one, but you (parent or carer) can be present the whole time. There are 2 short questionnaires for parents to complete about their child's motor ability. The study takes only 45 minutes to complete (maximum) and any expenses will be covered.

This could be a perfect activity to get involved with during the October half-term. Your child will receive a 'young scientist' certificate on completion, and we have lots of lovely stickers for them also!
