WANTED; recomendations for somewhere to stay in the Lake District.

Any of the towns / villages particular nice or any hotel\B&B recommended?

The North Lakes are very nice (and a lot less busy). Try Cockermouth (small town) or Lorton (picturesque village).

ratprincess you beat me to it - that's where i was going to recommend too, although slightly biased as it's where i'm from. If you don't mind a bit of a drive you could try the kirkstile in Loweswater, winderhall in lorton or there are a couple of places further in near buttermere too. I'd look into b+b's rather than hotels though as they tend to be a bit more interesting .....

I agree with the ratprincess; don't just stop at Windermere and Keswick, push on through to the north Lakes. Wastwater is breathtaking and is a world away from the busy streets of Ambleside.
