Not getting the advertised 25% discount from GBK East Dulwich for East Dulwich Picturehouse member

Recently I went to the GBK Burger with my wife and my daughter. We expect to get 25% discount off the total food bill from our East Dulwich Picturehouse membership based on what was advertised as member benefit. However, we were only given a discount of 18% and the manager said to us that it was the right discount as it was what came out from the discount button on his till. I enquired with the Picturehouse and they confirmed to me that the 25% discount should stand, and had no explanation of why this did not happen with GBK East Dulwich. I have emailed GBK since last week but have not received a reply yet.

Just wondering if anyone has any similar experience recently ?

If it were me I would email Picturehouses to the email on their website & attach photo of your GBK receipt and see what they have to say - they clearly state 25% discount on their website. Let us know what they say.
I used to go for the lunchtime special with work colleagues and we were getting the 25% discount for about 6 months and then one day I went in and the manager said it didn't apply on the lunchtime special according to the discount button he used on the till- Haven't been there since! It works fine at the one in Greenwich!

where does it say that? On the Picturehouses website it says 25% off GBK bill up to 4 people, doesn't specify adults or children

The discount is exactly 25% of the food not on the kids' special menu. Could be that the kids' offer is discounted already so additional discount is not permitted? This is usually a condition of such offers.

The Maths seems to suggest this was the case, as 25% of the total excluding kids meal is 4.35 pound. But this does not explain why 25% discount did not apply. The Picturehouse member benefit clearly states "25% off your total bill at Gourmet Burger Kitchen (up to four people, excludes Bluewater)" without any mentioning of condition. Neither does the GBK menu contains any suggestion that the Kids meal has already been discounted. The price of 6.95 pound is in fact a regular price. I did email the query with the invoice to Picturehouse, but they have no explanation for it other than noting that 25% discount off the total food bill should apply.

    • No I absolutely did not - that much is clear. Have you read the latest stories about Unite, Len and the hotel in Birmingham? The UK electorate were smart enough to reject a far-left party in 2019, let's hope they are smart enough to reject a far-right party at the next election too. If not we are all doomed.
    • I would also like to add my recommendation for James.  I had taken four names of electricians from the forum - in the order I had read the reviews.  First three no response - even days later. I phoned James this morning. He answered, gave me a time, stuck to it, messaged again 15 mins before arrival.  He fixed my problem on the spot.  Sensible charge out fee. Perfect service.
    • Most recent polls for the next election suggest it will be a hung parliament, with Reform the largest party by a fair margin. But that is predicated on Reform finding around 300 candidates who are actually electable. Given the number of Reform council candidates who have had to drop out prior to or after the local elections, does that seem likely? Social media is pretty unforgiving when it comes to finding skeletons in cupboards; a retweet or a like seems enough to scupper political ambitions. A few may defect from other parties, but do you think the electorate would really vote for so many brand new MPs from a newish party?  I'm not so sure.
    • To be fair, anything which waylays someone on their way to Palma Nova or Lloret de Mar from spending even more pre-flight time in Spoon's surely has some merit? I think losing a few quid on a litre of Bacardi and 200 Benson & Hedges Gold seems a reasonable price for society to pay. ,
