pork chop
Is there any news on the Thameslink redevelopment actually helping stations like Herne Hill or Denmark Hill, with more destinations, more services, or even new trains..?The pdf below doesn't seem to indicate anything new for these stations.http://assets.goaheadbus.com/media/cms_page_media/1273/Proposed%202018%20Thameslink%20service%20pattern.pdf Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/77643-thameslink-redevelopment-herne-hill-denmark-hill/ Share on other sites
landsberger
http://www.thameslinkrailway.com/your-journey/servicestransfer/ says"Thameslink is also taking over the management of seven stations at Denmark Hill, Nunhead, Crofton Park, Catford, Bellingham, Beckenham Hill and Ravensbourne which are predominately served by Thameslink trains. You?ll see the same staff but they?ll have new uniforms and better information as they?ll be dealing direct with our control and will have sight of the entire network and full journey."And"We?re bringing you new trains in early 2016. They?ll be air conditioned and spacious with a walk-through design, full facilities for the disabled and the latest in passenger information systems. The trains promise greater reliability and are fixed in length at eight carriages so there will be no more four carriage services. And at Nunhead we will extend the hours we staff the station next autumn, so that we have someone there from the first to last service. We also anticipate installing passenger wi-fi at Catford, Denmark Hill and Nunhead stations subject to surveys"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thameslink_ProgrammeHas further detail than the map Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/77643-thameslink-redevelopment-herne-hill-denmark-hill/#findComment-910704 Share on other sites
Earl Aelfheah
That all sounds nice, but what's the service going to look like? As I recall the plan was for Denmark hill trains to start terminating at Blackfriars again. Has this changed? civilservant
I really can't see how Denmark Hill station could cope with more peak time traffic than it gets at the moment - this morning for example, one of the turnstiles was out of order and the staff seemed unable to manage the mass of incoming and outgoing passengers. The result was a jostling crowd spilling off the pavement into the path of oncoming buses and other traffic.and wouldn't it be lovely if Thameslink could make its current service work? Trains that arrived on time, weren't cancelled at random and which allowed passengers to travel without being jammed in like sardines Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/77643-thameslink-redevelopment-herne-hill-denmark-hill/#findComment-910781 Share on other sites
