And did those feet in ancient time

Walk upon England's mountains green

And was the holy lamb of God

On England's pleasant pastures seen

And did the countenance divine

Shine forth upon our clouded hills

And was Jerusalem builded here

Among those dark Satanic mills

Bring me my bow of burning gold

Bring me my arrows of desire

Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold

Bring me my chariot of fire

I will not cease from mental fight

Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand

'Til we have built Jerusalem

In England's green and pleasant land

'Til we have built Jerusalem

In England's green and pleasant land!!

Gotta love it.

I never watch the Proms but watched it tonight, the BBC 4 version as it was from my mum's home town of Lisburn. I really enjoyed it esp James Galwey.

Good to see it was not raining in Northern Ireland, thats quite rare this year from what I hear.

Great stuff! The 'Proms Inspire Young Composers' fanfare had me in stitches. Did someone actually write that down, or did they just sneeze on the score? Well done BBC.

Jerusalem's a wicked tune but Land of Hope and Glory is strictly for the retarded.

the girl who played the trumpet during the gershwin song was just fantastic!! what a hotty too, I suspect people of her talent and demeanor can only increase the popularity of the proms, I would love to goto the albert Hall for it, we went to the hyde park a couple of years ago and it was a bit rubbish as some Romanian pop singer came on looking like Borat and sang terribly, but apart from that we loved it, the funniest thing was that they had chas and dave in the park. Now THEY are a south london institution!!

One thought:

When the people in the standing area - all decked-out in their union jack waiscoats - all start bobbing up and down with their hands behind their backs in time with the music, would it be possible to install a giant machine in the Albert Hall which could simultaneously kick them all up the arse as hard as possible?

I think it coulod really add something to the occasion.

yeah but tribute bands ?? Sorry to say I feel robbed by that, we have so much real talent in this country that could be given the platform but tribute bands are a cheap pandering to populist tastes,Queen and Rolling Stones were good bands in there time but tributes at the proms is just too wrong for words, I think its taking the piss out of the license payer to be fed such pap!!

bring on the real talent!!

But I am glad you enjoyed it!!

    • Pointless unless Southwark will make money from this being erected.  If that’s the case, it will be allowed.
    • Yes, there's no way anyone would want a Wi-Fi hub in Lordship Lane. Absolutely pointless. Anyone who actually wants or needs to communicate or access data will already have their 5G phone or satellite phone on them to get fast data. And of course we are lucky that we have such a strong and unbroken mobile signal from all suppliers locally. With no dead spots.
    • I see from the Site Notice https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/files/B867B0B45973C03BE4D45CE4513BDE35/pdf/25_AP_2825-SITE_NOTICE-4151698.pdf that the "Comment by" date is 5 November. My understanding is that comments submitted after that date can and ?will still be considered if the decision-making hasn't yet been done; so I wouldn't let the date in itself deter you if you  want to comment now.   Was the site notice actually posted near the location, btw? Does the hub have any claimed functions other than advertising?
    • Whilst reading about what was Poundland, I saw that BT has applied to install (block the pavement with) one of its large screen advertising 'street hubs' outside the building. This seems like a terrible idea in my opinion - others may disagree - but you might want to look at the planning application and comment. There is still a day or two to do so.  Here's the relevant application 25/AP/2825 https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=T3G4H5KBH1500 and how it will look https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/files/BDF327FA0103A31946387A251B9C9D45/pdf/25_AP_2825-ELEVATION_PLAN-4143504.pdf
