Build Team Side Return "specialists" in Clapham not to be trusted!!

Caution everyone with using Build Team for you Side-return. There ?2995 design phase always goes over its "fixed" price and you can only make a few changes to your design layout before they charge ?350 to change small elements..

There party wall service is also a rip off.. they outsource the work and charge double the price!!

There construction phase also never sticks to budget, I've had conversations with other clients who have said there build came out 15% higher than originally quoted.

Overall a bad company constantly dealing with unhappy customers, and the back room staff are extremely unhelpful when problems occur..

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Hello. My name is Rachel and I am Build Team?s Design Operations Manager.

At Build Team we take feedback, from clients, prospects and wider parties, seriously. Noting the above comment from stephevans1986, I have personally investigated the matter. Following an extensive review, I am able to confirm that Build Team does not have a current or previous client named ?Steph Evans?. That said, I acknowledge that stephevans1986 wrote separate review on eastdulwichforum.co.uk, where they note they are writing on behalf of a friend.

Build Team has a clear complaints procedure and I would warmly welcome stephevans1986 and their friend to write to me directly at [email protected] or call me on 0207-495-6561, so I can investigate the matter further.

Thanking you in advance.

Best wishes

Rachel

Hi everyone ! My name is Phil , I was working for BuildTeam on several projects and I can tell you everything about this company , how they lie , how they cheat their clients and contractors who don't get paid at the end of the projects , I can also give some clients details numbers and addresses if anyone wants to check if it's all true .

They use very cheap materials , lots of structural parts of the build are done against building regulations , this is what I was doing with my guys when Mark asked me to , treating that he won't pay me if I don't do it , and the last project was horrible when extension almost callapsed .. I can send photos to anyone who is interested , I was working with their engineers project managers and know how it works ! Please email me for more info [email protected]

    • Having enjoyed a day with Sayce HolmesLewis, I understand what you’re saying.  I appreciate your courage responding on here.
    • Thank you to everyone who has already shared their thoughts on this. Dawson Heights Estate in the 1980s, while not as infamous as some other estates, did have its share of anti-social behaviour and petty crime. My brother often used the estate as a shortcut when coming home from his girlfriend’s house, despite my parents warning him many times to avoid it. Policing during that era had a distinctly “tough on crime” approach. Teenagers, particularly those from working-class areas or minority communities, were routinely stopped, questioned, and in some cases, physically handled for minor infractions like loitering, skateboarding, or underage drinking. Respect for authority wasn’t just expected—it was demanded. Talking back to a police officer could escalate a situation very quickly, often with harsh consequences. This was a very different time. There were no body cameras, dash cams, or social media to hold anyone accountable or to provide a record of encounters. Policing was far more physical and immediate, with few technological safeguards to check officer behaviour. My brother wasn’t known to the police. He held a full-time job at the Army and Navy store in Lewisham and had recently been accepted into the army. Yet, on that night, he ran—not because he was guilty of anything—but because he knew exactly what would happen if he were caught on an estate late at night with a group of other boys. He was scared, and rightfully so.
    • I'm sure many people would look to see if someone needed help, and if so would do something about it, and at least phone the police if necessary if they didn't feel confident helping directly. At least I hope so. I'm sorry you don't feel safe, but surely ED isn't any less safe than most places. It's hardly a hotbed of crime, it's just that people don't post on here if nothing has happened! And before that, there were no highwaymen,  or any murders at all .... In what way exactly have we become "a soft apologetic society", whatever that means?
