To celebrate 10 years of the East Dulwich Writers' Group, we've published an anthology consisting of short stories, novel extracts and poems by 18 members of EDWG. The title, Hoovering the Roof, was chosen by a poll publicised on this forum and elsewhere. Some of the contributors are published authors, some yet-to-be, and we have at least 2 people who are winners of prestigious competitions. This eclectic collection reflects the diversity of the EDWG members and should contain something for everyone. Ideal as a seasonal gift!

The book will be available from next week at local bookshops and online at Amazon or via our website (with a discount). See www.edwg.co.uk for details.

We're holding a launch event at the Crow on the Hill bookshop next Thur (see What's On for details).

To be entered into a lucky dip to win a copy of the book signed by all the contributors, please email me at [email protected]

Hot off the press! I've just had an email saying the books have arrived - earlier than expected, which is great news.

We'll be getting them in bookshops over the next few days but meanwhile you can order copies with a ?1 discount via our website as above.

Or better still - come to one of the launch events. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,369549

Thanks, guys. Last night we finally held copies of the book in our hot little hands. And it's great - a real celebration of the creative writing talent alive and well in this little corner of SE London.

Hope we see lots of you at the launch events at the Bookseller Crow on the Hill on Thursday and next Monday at Dulwich Library. See What's On for details.

And you can order the book online at www.edwg.co.uk

  • 2 weeks later...

We've had 2 very successful launch events and sold 19 copies of Hoovering the Roof at the Bookseller Crow on the Hill last week and another 11 at the Dulwich Library event on Monday. We're planning further events in the new year.

We'll be selling the anthology and other books and music by EDWG members on a stall in North Cross Road this Saturday 10.30-3.00 and for the next 2 Saturdays. Our resident musician, Dan Maitland, will be popping over for some lively busking. Feel free to come along and say hello. (And buy a copy of the book, of course. Did I mention what a great seasonal gift it would make?)

If you can't make it to the stall, the book is now available at all the local bookshops, via our website www.edwg.co.uk and on Amazon.

    • Ah, thanks,  it all comes flooding back. I've actually been to the Hastings shop, I'd forgotten all about it, along with her name! Didn't she (in between?)  take over what  was then The Magnolia, previously The Magdala, now The Lordship, with her then partner? Or is that some figment of my imagination?
    • Looking for crate/toys/play pen etc. Ideally will buy in a bundle. Can collect!
    • A belated recommendation for Iain and Paul od Oddbods who came to help me with various jobs before Christmas.  Painting ceiling, renewing silicone around bath, repairing a window sill which was almost beyond repair and hanging a large mirror.   Very happy with their work and they are friendly and very reliable and excellent at communicating.  No hesitation in recommending them.
    • I just wanted to post for all my neighbours a recommendation of Niko, the wonderful plumber who works locally. Niko has done work for me over the years, including large and small jobs. He recently replaced four radiators in my house which have helped us really be warm for the first time! I recommend Niko so whole heartedly because (1) he is completely straight forward and will advise you not to do something / a cheaper solution, if that is what is best for you; and (2) he is one of the kindest and most honest people I have ever known. He goes the extra mile to sort out problems, particularly urgent ones.
