Kitchen extension recommendation

Plus Rooms (www.plusrooms.com) completed our kitchen extension at the end of last year and I highly recommend them. From the start they were professional and thorough, spending a long time with us for the initial quote (which was really detailed & accurate, with any potential extras clearly stated) and then throughout the process. We had a project manager which made the whole thing manageable with a full time job! He was always happy to meet us before work as well. The work was very good, the quote competitive, and we found them really helpful and would definitely use them again!
We would also be happy to recommend Plus rooms as a contractor for a side return kitchen extension. Our extension was built during the summer and we are thoroughly happy with the end result. They managed the whole process from design and architect, taking it to planning and overseeing that process, and helping us to manage party wall agreements. In to the build we were assigned a project manager who worked closely with the builders to ensure certain tasks were achieved each week; which ended in a very quick build to first fix, approximately 11 weeks. We built a 40sqm room so we were very happy with the efficiency, quality and cost of the build. We also lived in during the build and I have to say we were very impressed with their work ethic (turned up every day 8am, and often not leaving before 6pm every day). They also built a temporary kitchen for us which worked well. I have a 18 month old who adapted very well to the process, as we were basically there every day.

Our home was simply not big enough and London prices too restrictive to move.

After much deliberation we chose to extend up and out as we love the area and are pretty nested here.

With so many firms on the market we looked to forums for recommendation

and found SigmaBuilders (nee Sigma Construction UK). The team specialise in kitchen extensions and home renovations projects.

Great service and nice to work with the design team all the way through rather than just a 'bunch of builders'

as they had good design ideas whenever a problem or decision was raised.

We have passed on their details to our friends and hear good things back.

Plus Rooms completed my kitchen extension and I can happily recommend this company. They have a pool of reliable builders that will promptly solve difficult situations when needed even after all the extension was finished.

They where clear from the beginning and the whole project took the time expected.

I am very happy with the gable design on the roof and the amount of skylights that insisted to build in as the space is lovely and full of light.

The Management is particularly professional!

Many thx we love our new space

    • There are two causes for this problem Β  The first is that modern safety requirements for cars (to protect pedestrians and cyclists in collisions) mean huge amounts of excess spacing in crumple zones to provide a cushion on impact. For example, in the past a lot of pedestrians suffered catastrophic head injuries when they ran in front of a car, because the bonnet was close to the engine block, so their heads bent the bonnet into the solid immovable engine and their heads cam off worse. To mitigate that there is now a huge amount of flex and space so that the head is cushioned from the engine. Naturally, the rest of the body work and car frame has had to increase to accommodate this safety measure. Β  The second issue is electrification. Β  Electric cars are massive because they have to carry huge batteries around to make them work. Massive amounts of space and height is given over to batteries in electric cars. The new electric Renault 5 (described as a "compact" hatch back) is nearly 4 metres long 2 metres wide.Β  Β  That makes it longer and wider than the original Range Rover.Β
    • Pretentious status vehicles.Β  Last year I was trying to drive down my own street but, being in a little, inferior car, was expected to make way for a stream of SUVs / Chelsea tractors as they barged along beside me. After what felt like an age, I saw a window of opportunity, but was beaten to it by yet another tank. By this stage I was irate (I hate the things) and having a full on shouting match with myself behind the wheel.Β  A Tesla in the oncoming queue pulled in, flashed and courteously allowed me to take my moment. The Tesla's windows were tinted, but not so much that I wasn't able to make out the driver, as I passed him. I'd recognise that mega-watt smile anywhere. It was Peter Crouch, laughing and giving me the thumbs up, clearly entertained by my tantrum.Β
    • I recently had a utility room built, next to the kitchen. Dean Richards and his team carried out the works, they did a fantastic job. Thorough, with attention to every detail.Β  If you are considering an extension, refurbishment or renovation, Dean comes highly recommended.Β  Dean RichardsΒ  07888 651798 Β
